Can she be rescued?

This dear old dolly is around 65 years old and belonged to my then brother in law. Many years ago my sister gave her to me and thought maybe I could have her put back together. Sadly she is in pieces (arms and legs not attached) and has a few cracks. Do you think she could be rescued? She even has her original shoes, how cute. She sits in a pillow slip in pieces in my cupboard waiting!

On the back it is stamped BND (I wonder what that means) and I think London?

Look at her cute little face. Her eyes open and close and by the look of the thing in her back I would imagine she used to cry or make some sort of noise?
Maybe I need to do a bit of research into dolls hospitals in our state.

  1. She is lovely. I had one similar as a child. We had a doll hospital in Brisbane at one stage. There must be one somewhere still.

  2. Hi Jude, BND stands for British National Dolls of London.... they started making dolls in 1930 and if you search in google you will be able to find pictures.... I am sure someone could put her back together again .... I seem to recall someone out Hillwood way may be able to..... Good luck!

Glad you have her now Jude, I'm sure the doll hospital will put her back to good health.

  5. Oh, what a sad little doll. I hope you find a place to repair her. Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. I will posting in a couple weeks on a Dedham Pottery give away (the bowl you like). I think I will probably be giving away another vase. Pop over!!
