dinosaur bag

A little boy who comes to me for child care was having a birthday - seemed fitting I make him a bag to carry his dinosaurs. I lined it with polar fleece - it was so easy and was loved by him.

colorful apron

I decided to go very colorful - cooking makes you happy why not have a happy apron?
It is reversible too

apron from tea towel

My sister gave me a large tea towel as a present - I then made two aprons from it - both reversible, isn't it a great idea?

A busy few months of sewing

My daughter bought me the sewing book for christmas.
In one of the pics I am cooking with my husband, we had a great xmas lunch.

In one of the pics on top of my dresser is a lovely pressie my good friend Dendra gave me, its a jar of ingredients to make super chocolate cookies!! It is such a great idea and I can't wait to make them :)

I have been very busy sewing lately, and in one of the pics I finished off a crochet bag that my daughter made. I lined the bag with material, and also lined the little strap and made a handle for the bag also :)

This is the crochet hook roll open, it is a bit longer than it looks in the picture though.

Crochet hook roll from an old pillowslip Kate got from an Op shop. Took me half an hour and I made the pattern up from looking at a picture of one. Holds ten crochet hooks all in their own little pockets. so easy and functional.

apron for Chris

Today I made my very first attempt at making an apron, my sister said on my last visit to Launceston - "I am collecting aprons" so I have made this as a surprise for her, can't wait to post it and then hear her reaction. The panel really got me in with those darling tea cups, who can't resist a cuppa? I know I can't.

Dino quilt for Bella

Today instead of watching the Grand final I made a quilt for my niece.

For Betty

Betty has recently had to start using a walking frame to help her get around, hope this throw cheers her up, I used lots of left overs, and only had to buy the light blue for strips. A very cold week-end resulted in this.

two presents for two sisters

This is two metres of polar fleece turned inside out sewn together to make a warm blanket for my sister undergoing chemo and radiation - a must in our cold winter evenings.
Had a little break inbetween from sewing and got out the needles and made this very thick warm scarf for my other sister. I couldn't even remember how to cast off!!!!! so good old U tube came in handy.

For my cousin overseas

My cousin in England sent me
a message a few weeks ago and said she wished she lived closer so i could make her a quilt, so I wipped this one up and it is about to be sent to her, hope she likes it. I know she likes flowers and tried to make it colours that would suit her. fingers crossed they are the right ones. Again I backed it with black polar fleece - don't think there is much danger of it being too hot in England.
I call them knee rugs more than a quilt (quicker and easier to put together)

Birthday quilt

A friend is having a birthday so I surprised her with a quilt - made from scraps from other quilts I have made recently, I backed it with black polar fleece so it will be nice and warm on those cool winter nights.
It is folded in half here.

sewing chair

At a local second hand shop I came across this repro chair, couldn't resist it and it has now become my new sewing chair. It goes with our old house and looks the part next to the wooden fire surround built into the house back in 1918.

Couch cover - black patchwork

Another week-end project, didn't have anyone in mind when I started this but half way through thought it would look very nice draped over our couch - I was very pleased with the end result, backed it with a black polar fleece blanket, so it serves as a cosy rug at night and looks good throughout the day.

winnies new cover

Winnie the Pooh now has a new patcwhwork quilt for his little chair. The Day care children thought I was very clever.
Seems I can never run out of "someone" to make a quilt for.

Japanese wall hanging

My daughters boyfriend travelled to Japan a couple of years ago, so I thyought I would surprise him with a little hanging to put above his bed to bring back memories of Japan. Spotlight sell panels, so I cut two of the geisha girls out and joined it up with other bits and pieces - pretty pleased with how it turned out
For my dear friend Wendy, just recovering from radiation and chemo, I hope it brings a little smile to you looking at the babushka dolls.
