Quilt cover

Today I popped into Spotlight and picked out some nice trendy colorful material to go with a piece (the centre square with birds) I had left over from bib making and made a cot quilt cover for my little grandson Memphis. This time I made it so the quilt can go in and not attached so it will be easier for washing. I have velcro along the bottom to keep it closed. It is reversible too.

little jacket

I am going to make a little toggle jacket for my grandson, after not knitting for many many years I wonder how long it will take me? I am making it the next size up from what he is now just incase it takes quite a while. When I am not sewing I can sit and knit, especially cold winter evenings while one eye on the telly!

mmm not sure

The ducks won! on a back wall where you don't really notice them!

Am I alone in not liking ducks on the wall???? My daughter bought these today for my hubby who for some unknown reason has always liked them when he has seen them in the shops, but I have always said no, uh uh they are not going on our wall. Well she bought them for four dollars (can't complain at that) at a local op shop and maybe he can put them in his shed, that way he will get to see the ducks flying and I won't have to!

Penguin coastline

Every morning my hubby sets off for work at 7am and heads to the little town of Penguin, one morning he had his camera on him and stopped on the side of the road and took these two lovely shots. It is such a pretty coastline here on the North West Coast.

my machine is back

I have really missed my trusty old singer, but it is back, I ran up this little half pinny this morning for my daughter Kate (creative world) , she had embroidered the little bunny on a white piece of cloth and I attached it to a pocket, apparently this is going to be her house-work pinny! maybe she could try it out here at my house and do some for me! While waiting for the machine to return I knitted a head band for my other daughter, made up the pattern and size - it worked out fine. I framed a piece of material with the scissors and sewing items on it, it sits next to the sewing machine giving me inspiration.

"Welcome"

On entrance to my little child care business at home I have this sign which welcomes everyone in many different languages, one day I will sit down and research all the languages on the welcome sign. I only know a few, but expect many of you lovely ladies will know some of them too, maybe you can help me? :) p.s. my sewing machine is ready to collect from the repair man, can't wait, I have missed it so much.

Winterfest and tea cosy finished

I finished my very first tea cosy

Beer tasting stall
(I had a tea instead)

The program for the winterfest and a cute little magnet for the fridge made out of Huon pine, couldn't resist it, maybe I can collect the set!

Chocolate penguins in a shop front display and the very cute little town of Latrobe with the trees and signs.

Today we went to the Chocolate winterfest in Latrobe, the most amazing tea cosy's were on display but I wasn't able to photograph them. they were part of an international travelling tea cosy display and were from all over the world.

(It was called the M.A.I.D. 4 .T World Tea cosy comp with 34 entries,)

There were lots of chocolate displays and chocolate, but my hubby's favourite stall was the beer tasting where you got five tasters for five dollars. All from small breweries around our Island state. It was a very cold day but being true Tasmanians we were rugged up for it, hats, gloves, coats etc. It was a lovely day. And I bought a little tea pot for my new tea cosy that I made, $2.00 at Lifeline, what a bargain!!!

First ever tea cosy

I have never made a tea cosy, and it is so long since I knitted anything I didn't know if I could remember how to follow a pattern. My daughter bought this lovely book at the farmers market book sale $2.00 (thank you to Loralie who used to own the book) and I can't believe how many lovely things are inside to make. A cold wet day has been put to good use. BUT now I am on the hunt for a tea pot small enough - oh that is when I finish the other side! I know what the rest of the day has installed now.

cake stand fruit bowl!

Some years ago I bought this lovely Grindley cake stand from a local antique store and for years it has sat in a cupboard coming out once or twice a year. While walking down to the local farmers market this morning I had a thought, why not use it as a fruit bowl? I think it looks lovely don't you?
