My sister Jen recently passed away, and her family have given me her spinning wheel, I remember her spinning away and turning out many home spun jumpers for anyone wanting one. I think it is about thirty years old, locally made with Tasmanian timber and she really did treasure it. I will most likely give it to my daughter (who would love to have a go at spinning Kate from http://www.creativeworldwithkate.blogspot.com/ ) Kate is a mad crocheter - who knows what she might make? But for know it is sitting in my sewing room where I can think of Jen.

present for Dendra
I went to visit my very good friend Dendra today for a cuppa - she always serves tea in cute little china tea cups , and I surprised her with her an apron.
Her request a while back was a nice chunky apron with a pocket (whenever I had some spare time - no rush) , in burgundy to match her kitchen. She loved it!

surprise for chrisartist
Chris do you remember telling me about tray cloths a while back? I got a napkin out of the cupboard then went to spotlight and bought the blue material with tea cups on it, cut some out and sewed them on to the napkin. I can just see you sitting with a cuppa in your studio. You inspired me, Look out for the post this week, x

Kates 30th birthday
This weekend I travelled to Hobart to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday with her partners family, we enjoyed a lovely meal out and had such fun getting together. My other daughter and her partner and baby live there too, so what a lovely celebration it was. There should be more weekends like this! If you look closely you will see my little grandson in the pic.

A gift from Venice
This litle glass heart was a gift from Chrisartist (my sister)
Chris and her husband just love Venice and whenever they visit family in the U.K. they grab a cheap airfare to Venice and explore the history and culture of this amazing city. Glass blowing in Venice is a huge part of the experience and most tourists get a water bus and head out to Murano to see the glass and take a look at how things are made.
I collect the murano glass and have a few more pieces (see photographs) and the gold pendant actually came from Venice too from Chrisartist's son (my nephew) when he visited there a few years ago. The other pieces I now buy at a local jewellers here in our town and I just love them all.

apron material find
Today I had a little detour into Spotlight (as you do when you are on the way to do groceries!) I found the cutest material to make yet another apron, isn't it delightful, all those little recipes - how delightful. I will post the apron once it is made, but thought you might like a look at the before!

twelve years later
Our daughter in grade eight at High school made this rocking horse, now twelve years later her Dad wanted to finish it off (mane and tail etc) and then give it to her for her young son Memphis, our darling grand-child. They were very surprised when we took it to them. (It had sat on top of our wardrobe all those years waiting to be finished. We think it looks great.
my cat is helping me today!
