Button swap - how fantastic

Today I received in the mail my button swap from the lovely Sue in England, craftsqueen@home Well I can't tell you how excited I was, it was like christmas, Sue made every single present inside apart from the lovely button chocolates, which were just lovely with a cup of tea Sue! My parcel had been opened by customs so I hoped they enjoyed the parcel as much as I did. I have photographed all the presents and I hope I have done them justice as they are truly wonderful in real life and I will treasure each and every one of them. Thanks Sue you made my day :)

My gifts were:
A gorgeous key ring with two cute buttons, it is filled with lavender - smells divine

The prettiest little pouch filled with buttons - I love the way it opens and closes

A large purple button brooch - can't wait to wear it!

A card with six cute pink buttons

A very gorgeous necklace with lace, material and of course a button

Cute little purple button ear rings

The cutest bunting you ever did see - I smile every time I look at it

and my yummy chocolates
Not to mention the prettiest home made card ever

Bib making

I had an afternoon making little bibs for newborns, nice and colorful, they are all reversible, so easy to turn over when one side gets dirty. I figure with busy mums it is always good to save time.

Floor rug for baby

ABC floor/pram rug ready to send. I backed it with off white polar fleece so it will be nice and warm. It will go off in the post with the little purple apron I made for Annabel.

project for today

In between popping to Spotlight today for their demonstration day with zips, buttons etc I will be making a baby quilt floor rug. This is for Annabels baby brother who came into the world three weeks ago. Just hope the frost lifts soon so i can drive the car! Thought I'd include the pic of the car taken at 7-45 this morning, 0.3 degrees, no wonder the cat wouldn't leave the house!

little apron for Annabel

My daughter asked me to make a little apron for her niece, Annabel's favourite color is purple, it is reversible too. Every bit of it is scrap material, just enough for a little pocket (Bo Peep) left over bobbly pink for the decoration at the top and I ran the stripes on the back both ways just to get enough material for the apron. It will go off to Annabel in Geelong soon, I am in progress of making a baby quilt for her new baby brother. Better get a move on!

babushka collection

I received a late mothers day pressie on the weekend to add to my babushka collection in the kitchen. The large red one is an ornament where the small white one is measuring cups and the measuring spoons are just cute for measuring out small amounts.

Central Highlands of Tassie - weekend away

Twenty metre walk from the shack we stayed in at the lakes. The nets you can see are put there by the Inland fisheries. They are Galaxia nets. This pic was taken at 7am on a beautiful autumn morning.

The lovely old town of Bothwell is on the way down from the lakes to Hobart.

The sheep just taking it all in.

This view is from the very Australian "outside toilet - or dunny as they used to be called! see below

I am scared of spiders so as you can imagine I was very fast! My hubby really did have to convince me it was ok!

Nice display of pots to boil the water on the fire.

Here is where the shack is. Note the pointing stick it is a toasting fork, improvisation!

Lovely walk to the lake to enjoy the beautiful peace and quiet.

Early morning

Catch of the morning, my husband walked down to the lake at 6 am, and when I went to see him at 7 he was returning with these! One of them he cooked on the BBQ that evening at our daughters home in Hobart. And yes it was delicious.

My breakfast before going for a walk.

Lovely old kitchen cupboard at the shack.

Enjoying the fire on arriving.

We had a lovely weekend away at the Great Lake. Hope you enjoyed looking at the photo's.

Weekend at the Lakes

This Trout has come out of the freezer just to show you what I will be up to on the weekend, my husband and I are off to the Central Highlands (2 1/2 hrs drive away) to catch another one or two. Roaring fires, No phones!, walks along the lake , snow? and just relaxing , can't think of anything nicer. It's like stepping back in time. Keep posted for more pics on return.

Something to look at while I'm sewing

I was sitting sewing and every now and then looked up and saw a blank wall. I remembered putting a piece of canvas away in the cupboard so I got it out put a piece of material over it, (had to ask my hubby for a loan of his staple gun - which he kindly did and helped me put the piece together!) Now my wall looks friendly instead of plain.

carlton ware

I was cleaning out my cupboard (spring clean in autumn! anyone else walk past and think mmm they need a dust!) and thought I'd share my carlton ware collection. It mainly consists of Made in England but Australian design. I especially love the little jug with the gum nuts on it. And I do use most pieces, they come out at different times. They are all useful little pieces. I wish I could find the little cups that match the two saucers. Maybe I will have to visit a few more antique shops! good excuse.

apron order from chrisartist

Chrisartist has given me an order for two aprons, one for her granddaughter and grandson. I have made this one for Charlotte ( reversible) out of scrap material from our sister Jens stash (Jen passed away in February after a battle with cancer) It will now be a little reminder kept in the family. I will get onto the other one soon. Recycling is a lovely way to use up material. I have just realised that I have been blogging one year exactly, when I look at my blogs a lot of things have happened in that year.
